Roles & Responsibilities
Regional Stellar Ambassador Chapters support initiatives and events that serve community members in the Stellar ecosystem. Each chapter consists of Ambassadors, who collaborate on content, initiatives, and events, and is overseen by a chapter president, who appoints Ambassadors, coordinates initiatives and events, and manages the chapter budget. The responsibilities and expectations for those roles are explained below.
A Chapter President is the main organizer and point of contact for a regional chapter. They are appointed through the Chapter President Selection process, and have a designated Chapter President role in Discord. They are encouraged to participate in the program by doing any or all of the things ambassadors do (described above), but also have specific responsibilities to:
Manage the chapter budget according to budget requirements
Provide accounting and program metrics to the Stellar Development Foundation following reporting requirements on defined cadence
Onboard new ambassadors coming in through the program-wide intake form following their defined onboarding process
Designing the intake and onboarding journey for new ambassadors based on overall program criteria, with the creation of required chapter resources
Collect KYC and due diligence materials from Event Hosts for SDF to review
Handle local tax requirements when distributing funds from the Chapter budget
Review event applications submitted by Ambassadors and select which to fund
Actively connect with Stellar ecosystem projects and support their growth
Incubate promising teams building on Stellar and nominate them for the SCF Instawards program as applicable.
Keep relevant events and Chapter (Luma) calendars up to date
Host weekly virtual chapter events
Organize and lead weekly chapter president meeting
Attend weekly region-wide meeting with the SDF Program manager or an SDF representative and other chapter presidents relevant to the region
Collaborate with other chapter presidents per region and globally
Chapter presidents are expected to:
Chapter President Stipends
In addition to the chapter budget, Chapter Presidents receive a stipend to help cover operational costs. These stipends will be awarded each month by the Budget Review Committee, which will review chapter reporting to determine amounts Initial stipends for new Chapter Presidents start at $1000 worth of XLM per month, but SDF's Budget Review Committee may adjust that amount up or down based on chapter activity and the amount of work required of a given Chapter President. The maximum possible stipend is $1500 worth of XLM per month.
Ambassadors join a local chapter by submitting a questionnaire to a Chapter President for review, and, once approved, receive a designated Ambassador role in the Stellar Dev Discord and can choose to participate in the program in various ways. They are encouraged to:
Onboard new members, support their regional chapter, and generally create a welcoming environment
Attend weekly Discord meetings to share thoughts and ideas
Attend in-person events
Apply to host in-person events
Help promote in-person events
Create and/or translate long-form content or educational resources
Create and/or share social media content
Follow and engage with regional ambassador chapters and/or SDF on socials
Become a verified SCF member and join the SCF voting process
Contribute to the monthly Stellar Ambassadors Newsletter
Ambassadors are expected to:
Community members make up the target audience for the program, and are welcome to participate in initiatives and events according to their interests. They can:
Post on Discord
Attend events
Apply to SCF, join hackathons, and engage in any other open-participation programs
Fill out the ambassador questionnaire to apply for an Ambassador role
And follow their Stellar journey in whatever form or fashion it takes
